You pick a side — Terrorists or Counter-Terrorists — and play out a round-based bomb defusal match with no respawns. T side plants the bomb, CT side stops it or defuses it. Money earned from performance funds your weapon buys each round.
KourStrike.io is a browser-based tactical FPS developed by Legion Platforms — the same studio behind Kour.io, Plundur.io, and Poxel.io. It’s directly inspired by Counter-Strike’s bomb defusal format, adapted for instant browser play with no download. The official site confirms it’s free to play with no installation required.

Two controls most players miss early: Tab opens both the scoreboard AND the economy view — critical for knowing what you can afford to buy next round. And E is the single key for planting, defusing, and interacting — hold it near the bomb site to plant, hold it near a planted bomb to defuse. Forgetting to hold E is the most common reason beginners fail to complete an objective with time remaining.
How Rounds Work
Each round gives both teams a buy phase before combat begins. Spend your money, then the round starts. There are no respawns — once eliminated, you spectate the round from that point forward. Every decision carries permanent consequences for that round.
Rounds end when one of the following happens:
| Outcome | Winner |
|---|---|
| All CT players eliminated | T side |
| Bomb detonates | T side |
| All T players eliminated before plant | CT side |
| Timer expires without a plant | CT side |
| Bomb defused | CT side |
Once the bomb is planted, the round timer is replaced by the bomb countdown. CT side must locate and defuse the bomb before it detonates — eliminating all Ts after the plant is not enough to win if the bomb is still ticking. The bomb is defused by holding E near it. A defuse kit, purchasable in the buy menu, cuts defuse time — essential for close retakes when the bomb timer is low.
The Economy System
Money is awarded at the start of each round based on your team’s performance in the previous one. The confirmed buy options are: weapons, armor, grenades, and defuse kits (CT side). Better rounds mean more money; a losing streak reduces what you can afford next round.
This creates a layer of strategy beyond individual firefights. Spending everything on a powerful rifle when you might lose the round means being under-equipped for the next one. Managing how much you spend based on your team’s economic position — sometimes deliberately buying cheap to rebuild funds after a loss — is a genuine skill that separates experienced players from those who simply buy the most expensive weapon available every round.
The Tab screen shows both the scoreboard and economy simultaneously, letting you assess what teammates can afford before the buy phase ends.
Weapons and Utility
Weapons are purchased in the buy phase and equipped before the round begins. Confirmed categories:
- Handguns — default sidearm option, available with the least money
- Submachine Guns (SMGs) — fast rate of fire, mid-range, affordable
- Assault Rifles — balanced damage, range, and accuracy — the primary weapon of most rounds
- Shotguns — high close-range burst, ineffective at distance
- Sniper Rifles — high single-shot damage, slow handling, requires positioning
- Grenades — throwable area-denial utility
- Molotov Cocktails — fire-based area denial, blocks pathways and forces movement
Each round, you select a primary, secondary, and melee weapon from whatever your budget allows. Armor is also purchasable and reduces incoming damage — skipping it to afford a better gun is a genuine trade-off that sometimes backfires at close range.
Tips
▸ Hold E — don’t tap it
Both planting and defusing require holding E continuously until the progress bar completes. Tapping E starts and immediately cancels the action. The most common objective failure in the game is players who tap E once and wonder why nothing happened. Press and hold until the bar fills.
▸ Don’t peek wide when you can play angles
KourStrike.io’s round structure makes deaths permanent. A wide aggressive peek that gets you killed costs your team the rest of the round in numbers. Pre-aim corners from a tight angle so your crosshair is already at head height before an opponent appears — they have to move into your aim, you don’t have to find them.
▸ Buy a defuse kit as CT when time is tight
Without a defuse kit, defusing takes long enough that a late retake may not be completable even in an empty room. The defuse kit halves the time required. If your team lost control of a site early and needs to retake it, buying a kit is usually more valuable than upgrading from an SMG to an AR for that round.
▸ Use the economy screen before buying
Press Tab to see what your team can afford this round. If most teammates are on pistols due to a losing streak, buying a sniper rifle alone puts you out of sync — you’re unlikely to carry a round solo, and spending big while teammates are light leaves you under-equipped the following round too. Eco together, reload together.
▸ On T side, plant and watch — don’t hold the bomb
Once the bomb is planted, the CT side is on a countdown. A planted bomb forces CT to come to you — take cover near the site and wait for them to push rather than searching for them across the map. The team that holds after planting wins more rounds than the team that pushes after planting.
