Five Nights at Frickbear’s 3

4.3 (3,473)

You work the night shift at Frickbear’s as one of four security guards, managing power, checking cameras, and keeping up to 40 animatronics from ending your shift early. Between nights, free-roam salvage segments let you recover additional animatronics — which immediately become new threats the following night.

Five Nights at Frickbear’s 3 is a 2.5D survival horror fangame developed by SpookyRick, built in GameMaker Studio. The demo released in October 2024; the full game on March 13, 2026. It is inspired by Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise but plays as a standalone story — no knowledge of the earlier Frickbear’s entries or the official FNaF games is required. Free to play in browser on desktop (browser version published May 20, 2026); also downloadable on GameJolt. It holds a 9.0 rating from 42 browser players.

Protagonists and Difficulty

Your choice of protagonist affects the difficulty curve, the animatronics you face, which story route you’re on, and what ending you can reach. Fritz Smith is locked until specific conditions are met.

ProtagonistDifficultyNotes
Jeremy FitzgeraldEasy — tutorial overlays, forgiving power curve, slower animatronic aggressionRecommended first run — teaches every mechanic
Mike SchmidtStandardSecond playthrough after Jeremy
Vanessa ShellyHard — unlocks Salvage Route contentRequired for Evil Ending
Fritz SmithLunatic — unlockable, hardestRequired for 100% completion; Fritz actively wants to make animatronics worse

On top of protagonist choice, a separate difficulty slider (Easy / Experienced / Hard / Lunatic) exists and modifies animatronic aggressiveness. Higher difficulties require salvaging more animatronics — meaning you’re deliberately adding more threats. The recommended play order for full completion is Jeremy → Mike → Vanessa → Fritz.

Night Office Mechanics

Each night runs from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM. The goal is to survive until 6:00 without running out of power or being caught. The office has multiple simultaneous systems to monitor:

  • Cameras (1–8, S key): Track animatronic positions. Know where each threat is before it reaches the office.
  • Doors (A/D): Block animatronics from entering. Doors cost power when closed.
  • Mask (W): Some animatronics are fooled by the night guard wearing an animatronic mask. Timing is critical — equipping it too late doesn’t help.
  • Flashlight (Z): Used to check the immediate office area and certain specific locations. Costs power per use.
  • Fan (X): Manages a temperature/heating system — an element borrowed from the UCN temperature mechanic. Overheating affects available actions.
  • Shop (Q): Access Mendo’s Store mid-night with tokens earned from mini-games.
  • Mini-games (R): In-office mini-game sequences that earn tokens when completed successfully.

The game begins with 5 animatronics active. Every salvage run between nights can add more, up to a maximum of 40 total. Each new animatronic has a different attack pattern — some use vents, some require specific door or mask responses, some sabotage your systems rather than approaching directly. The variety is the game’s main mechanical selling point: no two nights with a custom roster play identically.

The Salvage Mechanic

Between nights, the game enters a free-roam 3D segment where you search the building and recover animatronics. Salvaging is voluntary — you choose whether to bring a new animatronic back. Salvaged animatronics become active threats in the following night, increasing difficulty. Why do it? Salvaging specific animatronics is required to unlock the Evil Ending (Vanny’s Route) and the Ultimate Ending. The Slacker Ending is what you get if you skip all salvage opportunities.

During salvage, Shift to sneak past active threats rather than sprinting past them — loud movement in salvage zones attracts attention. Sprint (Space) is for emergencies when a threat is already closing.

Tokens, Mendo’s Store, and Performance Bonuses

Tokens are earned by completing in-office mini-games (R key) and surviving specific defense challenges. They’re spent at Mendo’s Store (Q key) for one-time usable items that provide temporary survival advantages during the night. After a night is cleared, performance bonuses are calculated: remaining power, number of deaths, and remaining tokens are converted into in-game dollars. Managing how many resources you waste on a given night directly affects your dollar total and what you can afford in subsequent sessions.

Endings Overview

Five Nights at Frickbear’s 3 has 5 endings. The first four are independent routes; the fifth requires completing all other routes first.

EndingRequirementFinal encounter
Normal / SlackerComplete nights without triggering Mask or Salvage routesStandard Night 6 at Circus Baby’s
Good (Mask Route)Collect all 4 animatronic masks from The Puppet during salvageNightmare Animatronics boss in collapsing pizzeria
Evil (Salvage Route)Salvage all 4 FFPS scrap animatronics: Springtrap, Lefty, Scrap Baby, Molten Freddy5-phase salvage abomination boss fight
Money (Talbert Files)Obtain the Talbert Files while aligned with The BossThe Boss’s unique conclusion
Ultimate (True Ending)Complete ALL requirements from all three routes simultaneouslyPsychic Friend Fredbear — WarioWare-style rapid minigame rush

A fifth side route — the Susie Route — sits between Good and Evil and requires completing both Springtrap’s salvage AND mask collection in the same playthrough. It unlocks Shadow Freddy, RWQFSFASXC, Susie, and JJ. The Susie Route is required for specific completionist achievements, not for the main five endings.

Three in-game allies (Michael Afton, Vanny, and The Boss) each track separate objectives. Which ally’s objectives you complete determines which ending you reach. Ignoring all three allies produces the Slacker Ending.

Tips

▸ Start with Jeremy on Easy — every mechanic is taught before pressure builds

Jeremy’s run includes tutorial overlays and a forgiving power curve. Learning the mask timing, fan management, and salvage movement on Jeremy means you walk into Mike’s run knowing all the systems rather than learning them under harder animatronic pressure.

▸ Track which animatronics you’re not responding to correctly

Each of the 40 animatronics has a specific counter — wrong or mistimed responses waste power on the wrong defense. If you’re losing power too fast on a particular night, identify which animatronic is causing it and look up its specific mechanic rather than defaulting to all defenses simultaneously.

▸ Sneak in salvage unless you’re already spotted

Sprint is loud. Shift-sneaking through salvage segments reduces detection risk by a meaningful margin. Use sprint only as an escape, not as a default movement speed in salvage — approaching animatronic locations quietly leaves you more reaction time if something goes wrong.

▸ Don’t rush the Evil Ending on a first playthrough

Salvaging all four FFPS animatronics (Springtrap, Lefty, Scrap Baby, Molten Freddy) adds four high-difficulty threats simultaneously. Do this route with Vanessa after you’ve already cleared Jeremy and Mike — the experience gap between those runs is significant, and Vanessa’s route is harder even before the scrap four are active.

▸ Complete mini-games consistently — tokens compound

Every in-office mini-game (R key) is a free source of tokens that can be cashed at Mendo’s Store for survival items. Players who consistently complete mini-games across a night have more one-time items available than those who skip them and grind on pure survival instinct. The items can directly prevent a death during a difficult animatronic wave.
