RocketGoal.io is a 3D multiplayer car soccer game developed by PocketHaven Games, launched in 2022. You drive rocket-powered cars inside an enclosed stadium, hitting a giant ball into the opponent’s net. The arena is fully three-dimensional — walls, ceiling, and floor are all drivable surfaces. It runs free in any modern browser and has official apps on the App Store and Google Play. Controller support is available via Settings → Controls → Assign Controller.

Controls

ActionDesktopNote
Drive / SteerWASD or Arrow KeysSteering is sensitive — small inputs produce sharp turns at speed
Jump / FlipSpacebarDouble-tap for a directional flip; single tap just hops
BoostShift (or J / Left Mouse)Boost depletes — collect gold arena coins to refill
Air RollQ or ERotates car mid-air for angled headers and aerial redirects
DriftLeft ShiftTighter cornering at speed
Wall EscapeKJumps car off walls or net when pinned — absent from most guides
Ball CamSpacebar toggleLocks camera onto the ball regardless of car direction

On mobile, an on-screen overlay replaces all keys — touch response is slightly less precise on fast aerials than keyboard. The most common beginner error is holding boost the entire approach, which leaves it empty on contact; the right technique is a short burst on the final meter. The K wall escape is the most overlooked input — getting pinned in your own net without knowing it exists costs goals.

Cars

All players start with Vortex. One car unlocks per rank, giving 8 cars total. No tuning or upgrade options exist — the car you unlock is used as-is. Body style affects hitbox contact with the ball, so the F1-profile Nitron sits lower and contacts differently than Blaze’s bulkier frame.

Speed-heavy cars like Specter and Nitron are better suited for 1v1 where first contact on the ball matters most. In 3v3, Blaze’s power is more useful for clearing the ball out of a crowd near your own net.

Game Modes

  • Practice — Solo, no opponents, no timer. Best for learning how boost depletes, testing aerial flip timing, and understanding wall/ceiling ball behavior before entering live matches. Nothing earned here carries to your rank.
  • Online Play (Matchmaking) — Ranked real-time matches in 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3 format. Wins earn trophies that raise your rank; each rank unlocks one car. Confirmed rank tiers are H → G → F → D → S. Losing a match does not deduct trophies already earned.
  • Party Mode — Private room for friends. Create a room, share the code, others join directly. Custom settings apply. No trophies are earned in Party Mode — it exists purely for social play without affecting your rank.

Tips and Strategy

▸ Angle your approach before boosting in

A straight-on hit sends the ball directly forward with no steering on the contact angle. Arriving at 30–45 degrees to the ball’s side lets you guide it across goal or toward the post. Beginners rush head-on; the fix is to position first, then burn the boost on the last meter of approach.

▸ Treat boost as a finishing tool, not a travel tool

Boost depletes fast and only refills from gold coins on the arena floor. Players who hold Shift the whole drive arrive empty when the ball is finally reachable. Drive normally, save the boost burst for the moment of contact — or for an emergency last-second defensive clearance.

▸ Toggle Ball Cam situation by situation

Ball Cam keeps the ball centered on screen — ideal for defending an inbound shot you need to track. But during aerial plays it disorients your spatial sense mid-flip. Turn Ball Cam off when going for an aerial, back on when landing and tracking play. Most players leave it on permanently and pay for it in missed aerials.

▸ Use wall drives to attack from above in team modes

Ground-level play in 2v2 and 3v3 gets congested instantly. Driving up the side wall puts you above the crowd and lets you drop onto the ball from an angle no ground defender anticipates. Ceiling redirects are especially difficult for goalkeepers to read since they break the expected low shot trajectory.

▸ Set Field of View to 120 before ranked play

Default FoV is 90, which puts the camera tight behind the car and cuts off peripheral ball awareness. Settings → Field of View → 120 widens the view without going so far out the car feels distant. This single change meaningfully improves situational awareness during fast team plays.

▸ One player holds back in 3v3 — always

When all three teammates rush the ball, any clearance turns into a clean breakaway against an empty net. In 3v3, rotate one player back to midfield or goalside whenever two teammates are committed forward. This is the same positional rotation Rocket League players use, applied identically here.

FAQ

▸ Who made RocketGoal.io?

PocketHaven Games, launched in 2022. The same studio made Rumble Rush.

▸ How do you unlock new cars in RocketGoal.io?

Win matches → earn trophies → rank up. One car unlocks per rank, from Overdrive at Rank 1 to Nitron at Rank 7. You can view the full car list by clicking Cars in the bottom-left of the main menu.

▸ What are the ranks in RocketGoal.io?

Confirmed tiers from lowest to highest: H, G, F, D, S. Trophies from wins push you up; you do not lose trophies on a loss.

▸ How do you create a private room in RocketGoal.io?

Select Party Mode → Create Room and share the room code. Party Mode is unranked — no trophies are earned or lost there.

▸ Does RocketGoal.io support controllers?

Yes. Go to Settings → Controls → Assign Controller to map a gamepad. Controllers generally produce smoother aerial control than keyboard on desktop.

▸ What does pressing K do in RocketGoal.io?

K jumps your car off the wall or net when it gets pinned. Most guides omit this entirely — it’s the fix when you’re trapped helplessly in your own goal.

▸ Is RocketGoal.io the same as Rocket League?

It’s clearly inspired by Rocket League but is a separate, free browser/.io title by an indie developer. No licensing connection to Psyonix or Epic Games.
